So the Harry Potter Golden Egg…is it worth getting? Read my honest review below…

Purchase your own hereHarry Potter Golden Egg

I’ll be going through the pros and the cons of this prop replica and in a moment I’ll show you close-up shots that I took of the actual prop at the Warner Bros Studio Tour, so you can see how they compare…

Now this isn’t an unboxing, because I’ve had this prop for quite a while, but more of a close-up of the detail, so you can see what it looks like if you’re considering getting it…

So I love the shiny, shiny gold of this egg – I mean I think I used to be a niffler because I’m kind of obsessed with foiling…

I normally have it behind me in most of my videos, with all my other Harry Potter items…

It has quite a bit of red and some turquoise details and does have this cool, complex design that’s etched onto it…

I read in Harry Potter – Page to Screen, where it’s explained that ‘the skyline etched on the outside of the egg is meant to depict an historical city, so perhaps one that belongs to merpeople’…

It also has this cute little owl face at the top and the feather catches on the side. It does still have the trademark at the bottom, but fortunately that’s at the very bottom, so when displayed it does not show ‘made by Warner Bros’ on the side, taking you out of magic…

It also comes with this handy ring that allows you to display it upright, where ever you want

Now the biggest con is unfortunately it does not open…I know…

The catch at the top does not twist to reveal the three portions that open, to show the inner crystal bubbles that release a screeching sound and when you hold it underwater, plays the mermaid song…

As amazing as that would be, unfortunately it doesn’t do that 🙁

The only reason I can imagine, is just because of the sheer cost of production, I think it just would be very, very expensive and also probably the hinges of where it does open – would probably be very delicate, so probably prone to breakages…

So if it was a very expensive prop but then also delicate, I’m not sure how popular that would be – however…

They do offer a little charm pendant that does have the opening sections, so if you’re really keen on one that does actually open, Noble Collection do offer that. Its obviously not prop, like this one…

If Noble Collection does however bring out a Harry Potter Golden Egg that does open…you know I’m gonna be getting it!..

Amazing as this one is, it would be pretty cool if there was one that opened…

So these photos I took at Warner Bros Studio Tour London, when they had the Goblet of Fire exhibition

So that one was the hero prop (so for close-up shots in the film) it would have the highest level of detail…

In conclusion, even though it does not open, I would recommend getting this item

I think it’s pretty well made and it’s not an overly cumbersome item so it’s not going to take up loads of space, so for someone who’s limited on space like me…

It does fit nicely on my shelf and it has a beautiful gold like shiny, shiny look – so if you are collecting gold decor or anything like that, then it would fit in perfectly

It’s also one of those items that like if you didn’t know, I like things that are like straight out of film, like if I could reach in the film and take it out and I have it, then this is one of them, so that’s one of the reasons why I did go for it…

As it is that prop replica, it’s not like a mini size or a figurine of something, it is like the prop size and that’s why I love it so much…

So I would recommend getting this, I think it’s worth it…
